What can you expect from hospitality at Wembley Stadium with Engage?

Wembley Stadium, both old and new has seen some momentous moments in sporting history that will never, ever be forgotten. The 4-2 “They think it’s all over” World Cup final win in 1966 will forever be in the hearts of English people and it’s hard to top an event that united a nation in such a manner. But there are so many incredible occasions at Wembley that should be remembered, talked about and celebrated for generations.

At Engage we have a corporate hospitality facility at Wembley stadium for all major events, called our ICON facility. Branded in the premium ICON black and gold colours, our most prestigious and most sought after hospitality option gives you the perfect opportunity to see moments in history that you can tell the kids and grandkids about (hopefully not over zoom).

Lets remind ourselves of some of the epic events at Wembley Stadium in the past and what we can look forward to in the future.

1953 FA Cup Final – The Stanley Matthews Final

Known as the Stanley Matthews Final, the FA Cup Final in 1953 was a dramatic comeback that saw Blackpool beat Bolton 4-3, after being 3-1 down with just 35 minutes. Although Stan Mortensen got a hattrick for Blackpool that day, it was 38 year old Matthews who’s constant pace and trickery down the line helped him finally get his hands on the FA Cup trophy.

His 3 assists, including crosses for the 89th minute equaliser and the 92nd minute winner were watched by an unbelievable 100,000 at Wembley Stadium. The game was also known as the first high profile sporting event to be watched on television and ever since that day, the FA Cup final has had it’s along standalone spot on the TV schedule and rightly so! Fortunately you can watch the FA Cup exclusive in out ICON facility.

2011 Champions League Final – Barcelona 3 -1 Manchester United

Fast forward over 50 years and you’ll find a match that signified the greatness of a Barcelona team that will be regarded as one of the best of all time. Fans at the new Wembley Stadium got to watch such a breath-taking,  dominant performance by a team full of modern legends. The likes of Pique, Xavi, Iniesta, Dani Alves and David Villa all featured in this outstanding team, orchestrated by Pep Guardiola who formed a tactical plan that was beautiful, yet unstoppable.

That day, United could barely get a kick of the ball despite Rooney’s first half equaliser. Yet the standout performance and moment was Lionel Messi‘s low strike from outside the box. The Argentine was mesmerizing during the game and further established his career that day as one of the best to ever grace the Wembley pitch. In our ICON facility, you will find plenty of famous football faces to interact with before and after the big game.

Live Aid

Wembley stadium arguably hosted the biggest and one of the most important concerts of all time, Live Aid. The concept came from Bob Geldof who united Philadelphia and other venues to pull off an aligned concert that at it’s peak had an audience of around 40% of the world’s population.

Fantastic performances from U2, David Bowie, Status Quo and Bob himself with the Boomtown rats will be remembered fondly but the ‘Greatest rock performance in history’ truly stole the show. Queen’s 21minute set at Wembley was performed of course by the supremely charismatic Freddie Mercury who had the crowd with him for every note, every beat and every lyrics as he belted out the band’s most popular hits.

Wembley is still the stadium that all major acts want to sell-out and perform to 70,000+ fans. Michael Jackson played the stadium an incredible 16 times during his career and more recently Beyonce, the Spice Girls, Muse, Take That and many many more have all performed memorable sets. Don’t miss out on any major music events in the future with Engage ICON.

Anthony Joshua v Wladimir Klitscho

Firstly a deserved reference to some other major boxing events at Wembley Stadium, including Henry Cooper v Muhammed Ali where Ali claimed victory in the 5th round, an impressive triumph early on in his professional career. The rematch of Carl Froch v George Groves in 2014 was an outstanding bout that saw Froch back up his controversial points win 6 months ago with a clinical 8th round knockout in another closely fought battle.

But Joshua v Klitscho in 2017 had absolutely everything. 90,000 fans, a post-war attendance record were able to witness the undefeated Joshua try and take the crown of the heavyweight king Klitscho. Both men felt the canvas and had spells in the fight of desperation to stay upright, but in the end, the youthful Joshua had the energy to pummel Klitscho with an 11th round upper cut that will be remembered forever. Let’s hope Joshua and Tyson Fury fight at Wembley! You can watch it live with us or any other incredible boxing match ups.

Wembley ICON Club Hospitality

NFL International Series

In 2007, Wembley stadium had the honour of hosting the first ever regular season NFL game outside of North America. Tickets sold out instantly as fans flocked to see the Miami Dolphins play the New York Giants, with the Giants in the end winning by 3 points.

The series has had significant growth since it’s initial success as now 30 matches have been played across three stadiums, but Wembley has hosted 25 of those. Still one of the most in-demand events on the calendar, the opportunity to see competitive NFL games is a real treat for the UK fans and Wembley will always hold a close association with the huge American franchise sport.
