Lee Valley VeloPark
The Lee Valley VeloPark is a indoor cycling area situated in East London, Stratford at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. It’s most notable uses are as a velodrome and a BMX racing track. The stadium was built for the London 2012 games and construction started in 2009 and finished in 2011.
The arena has seen an incredible amount of drama and success, particularly for British athletes. Chris Hoy, Laura Trott, Jason Kenny, Victoria Pendleton, Bradley Wiggins and others won gold here in 2012 as Great Britain won an incredible 12 medals, 6 more than second placed Germany.
You may have been one of the lucky people to see one of these Olympic races in action, but importantly the venue is still used today and gives everyone a chance to experience the track in person.
