Product Description

Ireland v Australia is the opening game of the 2020 Guinness Series at the Aviva Stadium.

This will be the first time the Wallabies will play in Dublin since 2016 when Ireland beat them 27 – 24 in a pulsating contest that saw Garry Ringrose score his first international try.

Since 1927, Australia and Ireland have competed against each other in 36 matches, Australia having won 22, Ireland 13, with 1 draw. Their first meeting was on 12 November 1927, and was won 5-3 by Australia. Their most recent meeting took place at Allianz Stadium, Sydney on 23 June 2018 and was won 20 pts to 16 by Ireland.

After guiding them to the 2019 Rugby World Cup, where Australia had a disappointing campaign, losing to England in the Quarter Finals, Head Coach Michael Cheika handed over the reins to kiwi Dave Rennie. He has previously coached the Hurricanes, Chiefs & Glasgow Warriors. Rennie has been described as “hard-nosed, doesn’t tolerate fools, is astute and has a deep rugby intelligence.”

Ireland also have a new Coach after Head Coach Joe Schmidt (2018 World Rugby Coach of the Year) who had been with the team since 2013, handed over to defence coach Andy Farrell after the 2019 Rugby World Cup.

Australia are ranked 7th in the World, with Ireland ranked 4th, so this will be an exciting clash guaranteeing top class rugby.

Formerly Lansdowne Road, the Aviva Stadium (which opened in 2010) is in the Ballsbridge area of Dublin & the stadium’s roof undulates in a wave-like manner so as to avoid blocking light to local residences.

Ireland v Australia; hVIP guests can expect to arrive early to the official IRFU hospitality Suite, then enjoy a 3 course meal and complimentary bar whilst listening to rugby legends recount stories of old and discuss the day’s proceedings before taking to your VIP seats for the match and watch this bruising encounter before a post-match reception with finger food and more Guinness.

Don’t delay and call Engage today to book your place.
