2020 England v Ireland ODI, Kia Oval
England face Ireland in their last One Day International at the Kia Oval on Tues 15th Sept 2020, and their final match of the summer.
The last time these two teams met, Ireland were left hugely disappointed. The inaugural Test at Lord’s began with England bowled out for 85. Tim Murtagh with a test 5 for however requiring 181 to win the game were cleaned up for 38.
Ireland will be wanting an upset but will face a tough task against current World Champs England.
England’s team is stacked full of batsmen with the ability to take games away from the very best bowling line-ups. Ireland’s bowlers will need to be on top form to restrict England.
Bring your clients down for an afternoon of fireworks, at one of the fastest scoring grounds in the UK, & a score of 380 plus could be on the cards.

England v Ireland ODI Kia Oval follows on from 2019 which saw the first England v Ireland match, which was seen as a warm-up for the upcoming Ashes for the England team, and was an historical occasion for the Ireland team, played out at Lord’s. The Irish had the best start imaginable to their test era when they skittled England for 85 in 23.4 overs. The game eventually was won by England who bowled the visitors out for 38 in their second inning to win by 143 runs.
Ireland have a much better chance int he 50 over format of the game on a pitch at The Oval which historically yields alot of runs.
While the Irish were absent from the 2019 world cup they have made their mark in past tournament. Most notably in the 2011 Cricket World Cup when they took on England in the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore. The game was remarkable with England posting 327 in their 50, Ireland at one stage were 115 for 5 only for Kevin O’Brien to score the fastest ever world cup century, 100 in 50 balls, which enabled the Irish to reach 329 with 5 balls to spare and 3 wickets in hand.
