2020 England v West Indies, Edgbaston
England play West Indies in the 2nd Test match at Edgbaston, 12th – 16th June 2020.
The West Indies were the fourth Test Playing nation, marking their official Test status with a three-nil loss to England back in 1928. For the next 20 years England maintained a winning streak until the famous watershed moment of 48/50 which would spark a West Indian dominance.
Some of the game’s best cricket players have come from the exotic island. The batsmen Sir Viv Richards, Gary Sobers, Gordon Greenwich, Brian Lara with their expansive, eye catching style and the bowlers Holding, Garner, Roberts, Walsh and Ambrose with their lightening pace.
Both squads are full of talent and this series will live up to those of old.

England v West Indies, is often one of the most highly anticipated series. England v West Indies has a long standing history which has provided some of the very best moments in Test Cricket.
The West Indies is a multi-national men’s cricket team which represents the Caribbean territories.
The West Indies dominated cricket throughout the mid to late 1970’s through to the early 1990’s. With one of the greatest Test Captains at the helm in Clive Loyd the W’indies developed a frightening brand that would change the face of cricket. The fast bowling quartet of Joel Garner, Michael Holding, Malcolm Marshall and Andy Roberts would be a menace to the top orders of the best Test playing Nations. After dismissing most line ups for miserly totals it was left up to some of the most eye catching batters to ever play the game to rack up totals that would end any opposition hopes. Sir Garfield Sobers, Viv Richards and later Sir Brian Charles Lara ooooooozed of class and were a joy to watch while at the crease.
England v West Indies – Nothing encapsulates the competitiveness of these two teams more than the last IT20 World Cup Final where West Indies look dead and buried until Carlos Brathwaite hit Ben Stokes for four sixes in a row.
England would argue since then they have had the upper hand and with the introduction of Jofra Archer at the ICC Cricket World Cup England won their round robin group stage fixture by 8 wickets restricting West Indies to 212 all out in 44.4 overs and chasing the total within 33 overs only 2 down.
Next summers Test series will be another opportunity for the teams to accrue points towards the ICC World Test Championship, as both teams bid to reach the Final and secure the inaugural trophy.
