England v West Indies will provide the first International fixtures of the 2020 calendar. Taking place at the Kia Oval, from 4th-8th June 2020 the three Test Series will contribute points to the World Test Championships, the inaugural bilateral series which culminates with the Final in 2021.
Both teams have a good mix of youth and experience and will have realistic expectations of reaching the WTC Final.
In addition to the points on offer, after losing the Wisden Trophy earlier this year the series will provide the opportunity for Root’s England to win back lost silverware.

This England v West Indies Kia Oval test match kicks off the international cricketing summer. This ground has seen some legendary encounters over the years between these two great teams. Many will remember the 1980’s when the West Indies inflicted two series 0-5 “blackwashes” on England. In those day they had a ferocious bowling attack including Malcolm Marshall, Andy Roberts, Joel Garner, Courtney Walsh. The batting was none to shabby either opening Gordon Greenwich and Desmond Haynes with the legendary Viv Richards coming in at four. More recently we have had Brian Lara who has to be one of the most stylish batsmen of all time. The current crop have some exciting players Brathwaite, Bravo, Campbell, Holder and Roach.
England will be looking to improve their test ranking for the World Test Championships having managed a remarkable draw in the Ashes in 2019 after heroics again by Ben Stokes it will be interesting to see how they evolve there no holds barred style under the new coach Chris Silverwood.
With Jofra Archer playing for England after representing West Indies in his youth the battle to be the fastest and most destructive bowler will have an extra edge and we could see a few records broken but hopefully no bones! The Oval, in the Kennington area of Lambeth in South London is known for its fast bouncy pitch which should be ideal for this battle.
