Product Description

Ireland v Italy was last played on Sat 10th August 2019 in a Rugby World Cup warm up fixture at the Aviva Stadium, Dublin. Joey Carbery suffered an ankle injury scare as Ireland eased past Italy 29-10 in their first World Cup warm-up match in Dublin. Carbery, Dave Kearney, Andrew Conway, Jordi Murphy and Kieran Marmion all crossed as an experimental Ireland line-up secured a routine Aviva Stadium victory.

Ireland laboured to a 26-16 victory over the Azzurri during the 2019 Six Nations Championship.

Ireland and Italy have contested a total of 31 rugby test matches since their first meeting in 1988. Ireland have won 27 of those matches, whilst Italy have won four matches. Italy will need the luck of the Irish to cause an upset in the Irish cauldron that is the Aviva Stadium.

Italy’s Head Coach Conor O’Shea is an Irish rugby union coach & former player. He played at full back and occasionally at fly half and centre for Ireland, Lansdowne & London Irish, and also coached London Irish & Harlequins.  He also held management positions with the English Rugby Football Union and the English Institute of Sport. O’Shea has been Head Coach of Italy since 2016, and during the 2018/19 international season, Italy won just one in 9 games, defeating Georgia 28-17 during the November test window, and losing all their games in the 2019 Guinness Six Nations Championship, finishing bottom of the table for the fourth year in a row. Mike Catt, former England utility back was Conor O’Shea’s Attack coach for 3 seasons before joining Joe Schmidt in Ireland, so will enjoy welcoming his old team to the Aviva Stadium.

Ireland v Italy will welcome you with cold Guinness on tap, hearty fare, good craic and an unbelievable atmosphere within the Aviva Stadium. Contact Engage Hospitality today to secure your places at Ireland v Italy, and entertain clients, family, friends or colleagues.
