2020 Vitality IT20, England v Pakistan, Headingley

England v Pakistan

Emerald Headingley will host its first ever Vitality IT20s next year with England taking on Australia & Pakistan.

England & Pakistan know each other well, competing in a five match ODI series as prep for the ICC Cricket World Cup and then again in the tournament. England took the honours in the earlier series, but it was Pakistan who had the final say of the summer posting 348/8 in their 50 overs. England with a hundred from Buttler and Root fell just short.

The only losses for England and Pakistan has been Trevor Bayliss and Mickey Arther as Head Coaches.

Both teams will be pumped up for an exciting T20 series where individual brilliance can be enough to win the day.

Product Description

England v Pakistan – Another chapter in the history books of these two teams.

This will be the first summer ever Vitality IT20 at The Emerald Headingley, England will host Australia and Pakistan in the shortest but the the most explosive format in the game. England and Pakistan know each other well, competing in a five match One Day International (ODI) series and prep for the ICC Cricket World Cup and then again in the tournament.

Following the most memorable year in England’s one-day history, the ICC Cricket World Cup champions will be looking to keep that white ball feel-good factor for next year’s IT20 series.

Headingley is historically known for favouring bowlers as its been conducive to swing bowlers, however in more recent times the batters have prospered as the ball has had less of an effect.

This was highlighted when Ben Stokes rewrote the record books this summer vs Australia scoring a sensational 135 not out on the last day to overhaul 362/9. A result that will live long in the memory of all Loiners.

England v Pakistan…. will be setting their stalls out and bringing in new faces as individuals stake their claim to be included in the IT20 World Cup which will take place in Australia throughout October. England reached the last IT20 final in Kolkata only for Carlos Brathwaite to hit Ben Stokes for four 6s in a row and snatch an unlikely victory.  Pakistan missed out on the later stages due to a narrow loss by 21 runs to Australia in Mohali.

England hosted  Pakistan in a one off T20 International at Cardiff in 2019 on May 5th. Pakistan batted first and amassed 173/6 Babar Azam top scored with 65 in 42 balls supported by a quick fire cameo from Haris Sohail who scored 50 in 36. England chased down Pakistans total with four balls to spare, led by Eoin Morgans 57 not out in 29 and Joe Root, 47 in 42.
