2021/22 Chelsea vs Tottenham

Chelsea FC

Chelsea FC have had an incredible 21st century under the ownership of Roman Abramovich and have now become one of the most powerful clubs in the world. Chelsea first won the Premier League under Jose Mourinho, who’s pragmatic and efficient tactics drove the Blues to glory. Stalwarts such as John Terry and Frank Lampard were leaders in the first title success in 2005 and since then the club haven’t looked back with multiple league and European titles.

Stamford Bridge is the home for Chelsea FC and has been since 1905 when the club were formed by Gus Mears. The West Stand hosts the majority of the Chelsea hospitality options with beautiful views of the pitch and entire stadium, that holds just over 40,000. Excitingly for Chelsea fans, the stadium is due for a major capacity increase, that plans to be finished in 2024 and will be a huge revenue boost for the team. At Stamford Bridge they also have the Matthew Harding Stand, in memory of the aforementioned director who’s investment helped push the club forward in the early 1990s, before a tragic helicopter accident cut his life short.

After two league titles under Jose Mourinho, Chelsea have always been title contenders under the majority of their future managers.. The team have had superstars drive them to that success, including Didier Drogba, Eden Hazard, Arjen Robben, Ashley Cole, Claude Makelele and many many more. A significantly famous night in Chelsea history was their maiden Champions League win in 2012. Having lost to Manchester United on penalties a few years prior, Chelsea ensured history wouldn’t repeat itself against Bayern Munich. The match was drawn 1-1 and the dreaded penalties swung in Chelsea favour, with Drogba, Lamaprd, Cole and David Luiz the scorers.

Where are the team now?

With Thomas Tuchel coming into the side in January 2021, following Frank Lampard’s dismissal, the club’s fortunes completely turned on their head and it was capped off by two cup finals. Chelsea lost the FA Cup final against Leicester City 1-0, but won the biggest prize of all against Manchester City in the Champions League final. Mason Mount played an incredible pass to Kai Havertz who took it round the despairing Ederson and tucked the finish away with ease.

Lead by strong defenders Thiago Silva, Antonio Rudiger and Reece James, the team managed to keep the favourites Man City at bay and took home the most coveted trophy in club football. Chelsea have invested heavily in the summer of 2020 with the likes of Timo Werner, Kai Havertz and Hakim Ziyech all improving as the season continued.
