2021 England v Sri Lanka T20, Southampton – The final match of three in this T20 series will be held in Southampton at the Ageas Bowl as Sri Lanka visit England in the short format for the first time since 2016. That game was won comfortably by England, followed up by a win in Sri Lanka 2 years later in 2018 by 30 runs.

England have been in scintillating form in T20 internationals and have not suffered a series lost since India’s 2-1 victory in England in 2018. In that period, Eoin Morgan has lead to the team to 7 victories and 1 draw, including victories in South Africa, New Zealand and the West. The incredible depth in England right now is brilliant for the fans, particularly evident in the batting line up that has allowed the future young stars to join up with the squad and fit straight in if called upon. This continued dominance has propelled England to top of the T20 world rankings and made them slight favourites for the rescheduled T20 World Cup in India, October 2021.

Sri Lanka hasn’t had the same amount of success, but a 3-0 victory away against Pakistan in 2019 was a positive in an otherwise drab period for them. Since that win, they have lost to Australia, India and World Cup holders West Indies by an aggregate score of 7-0. As preparations for the World Cup hot up, these matches will be crucial in determining the final squad that travels to India and hopefully brings home the World Cup glory.
