Product Description

2021 Guinness Six Nations Ireland v France

2021 Guinness Six Nations Ireland v France – a re run of the final match from the 2020 Six Nations. Due to the Coronavirus outbreak all games were called off. The 2020 tournament had reached a critical point with any of three teams capable of winning the title; England, France and Ireland; before the Coronavirus pandemic put a halt to proceedings.

Event history

The last time Ireland and France met was in the 2019 Six Nations Championship. Ireland put in a dominant performance emerging 26-14 winners. Ireland greatly improved on the previous week’s performances. France were under constant pressure until the result was beyond doubt.

Fly half Jonathan Sexton captains both Leinster Rugby and Ireland. He has previously represented the British and Irish Lions in both 2013 and 2017 and has scored over 700 points in his international career. Sexton is one of the highest points-scorers in rugby union history.

Sexton was the winner of World Rugby Player of the Year in 2018. He had previously been a nominee for the award in 2014. He is only the second Irish player in history to win the award, after inaugural winner, Keith Wood, in 2001.

Sexton became the 106th player to captain Ireland when he led the team out at their 2019 Rugby World Cup.  Officially named captain for the 2020 Six Nations Championship. He’s expected to continue for the 2021 Guinness Six Nations.
