2021 Henley Royal Regatta
Henley Royal Regatta has been a firm fixture of the summer sporting and social calendar since 1839. Over 200 races take place across the 5-day event with Olympians and international crews racing for victory. Situated in the picturesque and historic market town of Henley-on-Thames, guests visiting for the Regatta enjoy views of the River Thames and the delightful surroundings of the Chiltern Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. A more quintessentially English setting is difficult to imagine.
Owing to its fantastic location and rich heritage, Henley Royal Regatta has become an internationally renowned example of British high society. However, by no means underestimate the seriousness and centrality of rowing at this exclusive sporting event. The races are in a head-to-head format and consequently are started every five minutes to accommodate the large number of competing teams. You can expect constant excitement, with the thrill of competition in the air between the world’s best crews.
2021 Fawley Court, Henley Royal Regatta
The 2021 Henley Royal Regatta with Engage provides the finest hospitality in conjunction with Fawley Court. The Sir Christopher Wren designed, stately home on the banks of the River Thames. Henley Regatta has been established since 1839 and thus the event has been woven into the fabric of the English social season.
The original regatta was sited at Henley. Due to it having the only straight 1.5mile stretch of river and the rest the as they say is history. Prince Albert became the first Royal Patron in 1851. Since then every reigning monarch has succeeded him hence it is known as Henley Royal Regatta.
The Regatta predates any other rowing organizations or associations. Initially governed by The Stewards it is now recognized by British Rowing and the International Federation of Rowing Associations. Racing takes place from Wednesday to Sunday. Running from Temple Island, the old Fawley Court fishing lodge, upstream toward the town of Henley. The river forms the border between Buckinghamshire and Berkshire and each crew is assigned to the Bucks or Berks side. The 2021 Henley Royal Regatta will be the first to take place over 6 days starting on Tuesday 29th June.
What to expect
There are many elements which make our Fawley Court facility at Henley Royal Regatta the ultimate in Henley hospitality. The house is set in magnificent grounds. The Sir Christopher Wren architecture is Grade 1 listed and includes a water feature that runs down to the river. Guests pull up outside the stunning house and are chauffeured by Range Rover down to the river.
The River Club is constructed from a stunning glass structure that was once used for Pippa Middleton’s wedding. This is surrounded by a floating pontoon deck and bar area which enables guest to have the best views of the river. Being at the halfway point of the racing you can see more from Fawley River Club than any other facility on the course. Guest relax by the Thames with Champagne and cocktails prior to lunch. However, if preferred guests can take one of our launches in a hamper and have a champagne cruise along the Royal Regatta course. Furthermore, lunch is served in the glass structure while afternoon tea can be enjoyed outside by the river.
