2022 England v South Africa T20, Bristol – The first match of three in this T20 series is in Bristol on the 27th July, with matches at the Sophia Gardens and the Ageas Bowl to follow.
England have been in scintillating form in T20 internationals and have not suffered a series lost since India’s 2-1 victory in England in 2018. In that period, Eoin Morgan has lead to the team to 7 victories and 1 draw, including victories in South Africa, New Zealand and the West. The incredible depth in England right now is brilliant for the fans, particularly evident in the batting line up that has allowed the future young stars to join up with the squad and fit straight in if called upon. This continued dominance has propelled England to top of the T20 world rankings and made them slight favourites for the rescheduled T20 World Cup in India, October 2021.
The summer of 2021 was just as positive for England, who went 5-1 in two back to back series. Sri Lanka were first up and England saw off the travelling team with ease. Sri Lanka top scored on 129, which for this current England squad is quite comfortable to catch and outscore. Sam Curran was the player of the series, with a strong display of batting and utilising the swinging conditions to good effect with the bat.
Pakistan proved to be the test that England wanted before the T20 World Cup in India and they came out of the blocks flying, posting 232 in Nottingham to win the first match. England won in similarly dominant fashion in game two, before a thriller ended the series. England managed to chase down Pakistan’s target, largely thanks to Jason Roy’s fierce opening score of 64 from 36 balls.
