Queens Tennis – The Queens Tennis Club hosts one of the most prestigious grass court tournaments as well as one of the oldest tennis tournaments in the world. The cinch Championships is an annual event on the men’s professional ATP World Tour. The tournament attracts the world’s best players and has been at The Queen’s Club since 1890. Each year, it attracts many iconic players, with its roll of honour including the likes of  John McEnroe, Lleyton Hewitt, Rafael Nadal, Andy Murray and Marin Cilic. The tournament takes place one week after the clay-court French Open. The Queens Tennis tour event serves as a warm-up to Wimbledon, taking place a week later.

    Event history

Andy Roddick and Lleyton Hewitt dominated the Queens Tennis tournament in the early 21st century, each winning four titles. Andy Murray won a record five titles between 2009 and 2016. Roddick has called the courts at the Queen’s Club “arguably the best in the world”.

Established in 1886 and named after Queen Victoria this ground-breaking facility (Queens Club) was the first multipurpose sports complex ever.

Officially known as the Queens Club Championships however, this iconic event, part of the ATP World Tour 500 series has had many names. From 1979 – 2008 Stella Artois Championships, Aegons in 2009 and now the cinch Championships. 2022 promises to bring a host of entertainment on and off the court with Matteo Berrettini looking to defend his title and Cameron Norrie will be looking to go one step further after losing in the final.
