Manchester City won their third Carabao Cup final in a row back in March 2020, securing a 2-1 victory over Aston Villa. Goals from Sergio Aguero and Rodri in the first half an hour set the favourites up for a comfortable victory, however Samatta’s goal just before half time made the tie interesting. Unfortunately Villa couldn’t score again to take the game to extra time as Phil Foden picked up a man of the match award for his composed and accomplished performance. Defeating Mourinho in 2021 however could be an extremely tough task as the experienced coach has moulded his Tottenham team into a hard-working machine. Spurs have fought well against the big teams in the league this season, already securing a famous victory against Man City with an unbeatable defensive display and a 2-0 victory.
With over 82,000 fans at Wembley in 2020, this was one of the last major sporting events with fan attendance before the covid-19 pandemic restricted fans from watching their beloved teams in action. The 2021 final has been rescheduled to April 25th to accommodate fans and give them the opportunity to watch their heroes in a cup final.
